The Northeast Environmental Enforcement Project (NEEP) provides professional training services to our paid membership.  Our membership is comprised of professional staff from government agencies that are responsible for enforcing laws and regulations pertaining to environmental protection. The training includes classroom and hands-on field practical workshops for environmental police, compliance inspectors, enforcement investigators, attorneys and data managers. We provide full service training at your location or at a regional location that can handle multiple agencies and jurisdictions.  In addition to these one day workshops we offer multi-day training workshops at a centrally located facility in New Jersey.  These workshops include classroom and hands-on field sessions. We also partner with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) to offer an advanced environmental crimes training course several times a year. All of these training opportunities are available to our paid member organizations.  Special arrangements can be made for a fee to interested parties that are not currently members.

Our services include working with you to provide a workshop agenda that suits your needs, locating and reserving the training facility location, preparing and providing workshop materials and preparing the workshop agenda.  While we maintain a diverse curriculum of training workshops we are capable of focusing the training to the needs of your agency and staff. The instructors for each of the workshops are highly experienced professionals currently working or formerly employed at a number of federal, state, and local environmental agencies as well as from the private sector.  All of the training opportunities offered by NEEP emphasize a multi-disciplined teamwork approach that helps to build lasting relationships between and among our member organizations.

In-state and regional training workshops are a cost effective, efficient way of providing training to your professional staff.  They can be held in your state or a bordering state to minimize travel time and allow the building of relationships with other government agencies and personnel. You can choose from a variety of topics and disciplines or work with us to create a workshop to fit your specific needs.

NEEP has developed several multi-day training workshops that provide classroom sessions coupled with practical field exercises.  The classroom sessions provide the background information that will be used in the field.  Field sessions then apply what is introduced in the classroom providing hands-on training. Interaction between the instructors and students and among students is advanced.

Through a partnership with FLETC, NEEP is able to provide access to the 9-day Advanced Environmental Crimes Training Program.  Topics in this program includes the criminal provisions of environmental law, personal protection equipment, sampling techniques, evidence gathering and preservation, surveillance, interview skills, preparation and execution of search warrants, and courtroom testimony and procedures.

Networking with fellow member organizations is one of the strengths of NEEP. Relationships are useful for compliance, permitting or enforcement matters.  Our members often request information for other states when reviewing permit/license applications or as part of an enforcement investigations.. You will be able to share information and benefit from a vast wealth of knowledge and experiences.
